Osaka (Japan)

Osaka was our base for next four days of our Japanese exploration trip. The arrival was accompanied with a lot of emotions – finding our way with the train system (the hotel was close to Namba train station in the Dotonbori area). After asking a few people, they began using their weird cell phones to find us information which train to take after the train from Osaka. At the end we were told to take the loop line; one of the guys we asked who was not from Osaka, even found info and wrote it on a piece of paper, the person from the train personnel even came and tell us where to get off and which train to take after.

Next moment… The hotel. Oh boy! In front of the hotel, you see those 4 figures which are a head and legs with feet pretty much – such kitsch but this is what we found… Hotel room – small with a pillar in the middle – Japanese room and style at its best.

The rest of the day was dedicated to the Aquarium. The interesting part of the aquarium is that it feels like you are surrounded with water and fishes but the fishes themselves are not the best collection I’ve seen (so far the Vancouver one is one of the best ever).

A ride on the wheel was another attraction and we enjoyed the city from the top. The second evening, we visited the floated garden which is an outdoor terrace where you can also enjoy the view of the city and hope to have nice weather which was our case.

The dinners in Osaka were quite particular – sushi, noodles (in a small place again ordering on a machine and where we were the only non-Japanese but the noodles were good!). It became a tradition also to have fruit jelly bought from a store as desert – to get our fruits intake and some European style deserts...

The last full day in Osaka started with a visit to the Osaka castle – not bad at all. The weather was perfect, warm, sunny and since there is nothing much to see in Osaka (apart of the night life and some cute Irish or international bars and restos), we decided to go and see Kobe.

Above all, Osaka is good for the night life and some restaurant (nothing fancy though) but the weird part is that a lot of bars and clubs are in buildings on the upper floors which doesn’t make me comfortable.

Also the people around – especially young and men – are so strange.. their hair dos are piece of art…
