Rajasthan is praised as one of the most colorful and magnificent place of India so after Taj Mahal, we dived more into the region! Day 3 of our trip started at reasonable time at 7.30 with a visit to Fatehpur Sikri – another estate with temples and mosque of another governor :) and it was a nice visit and portion of history especially that this ruler used elephants to punish/kill people.
The drive to Jaipur, the pink city took us something like 4-5 hours.Jaipur, known as the pink city is another big city with interesting palaces like the Amber, the Wind and Water Palaces. The trip and visit to the Amber palace is really worth every minute and penny.
The interesting part of Indian life is that the cows are totally holy – apparently, if you kill a cow even unintentionally, you go to jail for 2 years. The food, that we had so far was tasty and even had the change to taste good street food (with the guide who ordered it for us, because you have to be really careful).
One of the highlight of Jaipur visit was the Bollywood movie Dhoom 3 – 3 hour movie in Hindi, guns, robberies, songs and dances… 3 hours with an intermission. The Audience included kids and babies who even cried – but how can you take a kid to a 3 hour movie at 7pm?
One of the dinners was in a local place called Handi where we were sitting and eating with the locals.. Really nice and no one of us had a problem after!
So now a word about the roads… you can drive on a nice road but the rules are chaotic, honking is so often, your ears and brain get regular shocks. Honking is like a road signал used to signify over-passing, as indication that you approaching and for whatever you can think of… However, often you have reconstructions on the road and then it looks like a one lane road but cars both directions pass each other, the area next to the road in the dirt could be slightly used and you feel like your bus will hit the coming vehicle.
