Another 3 days around Switzerland

A friend of mine from Toronto decided to come and visit, so my passion about planning one day trips in Switzerland was free to fly. The plan was done and following the forecast of each destination, we were deciding what to do the previous night.

Day 1. Bernese Oberland. This was the second time I went there and it didn't fail to impress me with its beauty. Train to Interlaken, bus to Iseltwald and then... 2 hours hike along the Brienzersee took us to Giessbachand when we arrived, came a boat to Brienz so we boarded.

Wondered in Brienz which is a small and cute village (like most Swiss ones) and decided to get a train back to Interlaken... well, a train came, we got in, the ticket inspection came and it appeared that we are going the opposite (wrong) direction so... got off on the next stop (after paying the extra unplanned trip), another train and on the way to Interlaken.
We were already sort of tired and when we arrived and decided to check when the next boat is, it was there, ready to go so.... ran and boarded to Spiez... It was a marvelous trip, gorgeous weather and pleasant views. Speiz looks like a nice hilly place, wonderful lake area but the last bus to the train station was there and considering our level of exhaustion, took it and got a train.. a packed train.. I couldn't sit till the next stop, after that there were people standing till Thun.. insane! So, had to get ready for day 2 after a nice quite evening!

Day 2. The forecast for Neuchatel was promising and since I had never been there and they say it is a grat place.... Basel train station - Neuchatel and .. oh, pretty place! The lake, the city, the French... Sunday - everything dead!
So walking around, enjoying the views, the castle, the lake and all, taking it easy was such a treasure! Neuchatel became one of my fav Swiss towns!

Day 3. So here we were ready for further exploration and Luzern and Mt Pilatus. So... train to Luzern, bus to Krienz, lift to Mt PIlatus... At the beginning of the |climbing|, the view was magnificent.. the mountain, the lawn, the green... so Swiss. Unfortunately, the top was above clouds so no view of the lake and Luzern. Significantly colder but we spent about an hour on the terrace eating cheese and enjoying the mountains on view... Afterwards, the cogwheel train which was delayed, packed.. Apparently, this funiculaire is the steepest one and you feel so weird.... going down, landscape changing, grass and lawns appearing, cows and the view of the lake. It is such a great picture.

After mentioning so many times the lake, you may guess already that we took a boat to Luzern - this was my second time on the route and I was once again amazed of the landscape and all - it feels like every place is a postcard!

Walked around Luzern and .. back to Basel.

A wonderful trip and great time with a friend - what more would you want from life?
